I have a fogger system im going to put on it with a victor intake and a 850 carb. Im looking for around 11:1 compression if not more no worries ill run a mix of race gas. Im new to ls base engines and am up for any ideas. any ideas on a cam anyone has had good luck with the hose? whatcha think?
keeping stock bore size? the vic jr on a NA motor will suffer in the lower rpm range, there more suited for a bigger bore motor. what heads you plan on running?

You think so? And on the heads, a friend of mine hooked me up on a set of ls1 heads and beehive springs for nothing. My plan was to get then worked on a bit. Sorta on a budget I'm trying to build the whole truck cage & 4 link.

so youre keeping the stock bore size? just getting forged pistons and rods?

if youre going that far into id get some stock flaptops and throw in there, hell stock lq9s if ya want, then some 243s or l92 heads, you wont need race gasket with 11:1 unless you wanna try and throw alot of timing at it

nice healthy cam/ along with a nice size stall, then you'll be ready for a 4 link and and cage

you think that the pistons will hold a 150-250 shot? and yea i was wanting to throw some timing at it, my old man knows how to set a carb up with some hose so i can get the most out of it. yea i may try and see these ls1 heads i got they came off of a very low mile 2002 camero. on the cage my dad is a chassis man also so i got all the time and benders needed for the cage as well with the chrome moly tubing so im wanting to do my own set up as well with the 4 link. what the average price of a set of the 243's or l92's?

stock lq9 pistons will hold up to a 150 shot, i was running numerous times 100 shot on a stock lq9 id say even a 200-250 maybe more pending on the tune it would have to be dead on . youll find 243s for around 250-350 l92s are about 100 to 150 more. nice to have a dad like that. i prefer t he l92s but the shit gets expensive hell i got 2500 just in head work and valves and springs lol!!

sound like you want something serious but also wanna stay on a budget? is there a ET you gunning for?

okay gotcha, well im trying to build a pretty decent motor for the truck, it may not need the cage yet but while the truck is down and torn apart i was just going to do everything now that a way after i drive the truck a while i can save some money and really build a nasty engine and the truck will already be there cage & 4 link so i can put it to the ground. im not trying to set the world on fire just trying to make something respectable ya know? i plan on spraying a min of 150 that's why i was thinking about a set of pistons at least. im not in any hurry just would like to get a motor built so i can have some motivation to keep spending money on the rest haha

couldnt agree more and i like the way you think, do it why you can and why youre into it if youre gonna build something nasty later then id go the cheapest route just to get the truck going. throw some stock flaptops in there, i caught wind from friend he tol me hes sprayed 200 plenty of times, so thats a plus, if you can swing it get the heads you pan on putting on the nasty engine what sucks nowa days it takes some nice coin to be respectable i think you got a good idea on what youre wanting to do but just need some help finalizing the package.
