It just seems having the weight back as far as possible would be best for driveability and it would make headers, etc. fit a lot better.

I honestly am just trying to avoid spending the cash on driveshafts. If you can save alot of cash by moving something 2" forward why not? Maybe I'm missing something but how would driveability be affected by this? I'm not worried about LT header fitment.. Stock manifolds will be fine for me or even some mid length's. Please don't think I'm trying to argue I'm really just trying to understand.
I have a 6.5TD 94 Blazer that I pulled the 6.5TD/4l80E out of for a Cummins swap but that may be canceled. Would it be possible to use those driveshafts? I can't imagine theres much differences between the 2 vehicles driveline length wise.

Hmmm....
Driveshafts or,
Extend exhaust, make new motor mounts, hope all wires and cooling hoses will make the stretch or comress, fuel lines, oil pan won't hit the crossmember. Hope all steering components will clear the low hung engine accessories.
Just thinking out loud.

Yeah ^^^ that all the etc. I was thinking of. It will turn and handle like more of a pig with the engine moved forward. Braking will feel different too.
If you have $$$ concerns on having shafts built then an 80 swap may not be the right thing for you. Do you need an 80?
I've completely destroyed a 4l60E with my LS1 Camaro with just LT's and no Cat's. These Transmissions do not belong in a full size truck. I'm going to measure the 94's drive shaft and see what I can make work. The 6.0 Will be Cammed also down the road.
