Alright guys , I'd really like to see some kind of a standard solution come up with that would help idiots like me come up with a viable air breather set up . I've pm'ed a couple of people and it seems like a lot of us are settling for sucking hot air into our lovely LS1's . Nobody at any of the aftermarket suppliers can help me and that's understandable. Right now I'm using stuff I got at Home Depot but I'm getting tired of how it looks and feel like it's unfinished . We've got the pinned article at the top of this section for the LS1 swap but there's nothing about an air breather solution . What are you guys using out there ? I know that Red , last time I spoke with him , still had a temporary set up . I'd really like to come up with a good cold air box like a Volant that would fit against the stock set up on the right fender of my 94 . I'm thinking this would cover the 88-98 's .I'd like to see some pictures if it's possible . I'm too embarassed to post a pic of mine but if it's necessary and you all need a good laugh , then , damn it , I'll do it !

Don't you have your battery on the RH side? That's the common issue. Buy a LH battery tray, move it over there and then buy a NBS cold air system. Your next obstacle will be how to get cold air into it if you have a 34" radiator. if you have a 28" radiator you can move it toward the driver side and take advantage of the air gap to draw air in there. Since the headlights and blinker are in the way, I cannot get cold air into the engine compartment from anywhere without building an air deflector from under the bumper to the wheel well and then up.

The GTO airbox is on the left side! If I would have seen one before I did my swap I would have gone that route. Now the air intake is under the cab.

I need an answer to this one too for the 86. Im not too worried about cold air but I would like a good looking and performing tube/filter setup. Does anyone make a bolt on filter setup?

Need a solution to my 86 setup as well. Guess I'll have to fab a home-made box with a removeable lid.

That's what I have been contemplating also. I figure I'll make a template from cardboard and then cut out aluminum for a box with maybe a plexi lid. maybe a contour gauge will help make it fit the hood lines with a seal.
