ok heres the thing my trans is gone some im gonna by a flt5. i didnt know if it would hold the motor i wanna put in. first option is a 6.0, mild cam, ls1 heads worked and nitrous, or a 408, big cam, and worked ls1 heads. will the trans hold up to either one of those and if so which combo should i go with. thanks for any input.

Got a buddy (here in BR) that went through at least three 4L60Es (w/ a few rebuilds) that were supposedly "built". After the last transmission bit the dust, he decided to spend the $3K (think that's what he said the price was) on the FLT Stage 5 . Put a vac mod on it, and has held the LQ9 (w/ 223/226 cam, springs, rods) pretty nicely. Truck runs 13.7s on motor... and it's an RCSB Z71 that gets sideways in 4hi (yes, 4hi not lo).

well of course a 408 would be better but i dont know if it would be if i spray the 6.0 the both will have cams and mild heads but more cubes or smaller with spray? the 6.0 with spray would be cheaper but not as deppendable as a forged 408. i can blow the 6.0 with to much nos so thats y i dont know which to do

If you plan on putting much NOS on the 6.0, buy some forged pistons for it first, unless you plan on limiting the spray to 100HP or less. 150HP is on the ragged edge of dependability for the stock pistons.

well i dont think i would go more than 100 if that but i know a forged 408 from trt would be more dependable but would the 6.0 with spray make more power? and if the 408 is all forged i could spray a small shot on it couldnt i?

I am working the numbers on a 408 right now and specifying that it be able to handle my 300 shot nitrous on it. They have engines running 400 shots right now, so we'll see. They are recommending a special Wiseco nitrous friendly forged piston in the build up. Sounds like their builder knows what they're talking about. Give Billy a call at TRT and discuss where you want to go and he'll help get you there.
