Hello all, new here!
I've got a buddy at work who wants to put a 2005 6.0L into his '67 that he is restoring. I think he can buy the motor for around $2000, but I think it's w/o the computer. He wants to know if there is some sort of harness he can use to run the motor w/o a computer. He mentioned something about a "painless" harness maybe. If he needs a computer can he use one from a '90's chevy with a reflash?
All your help is appreciated!

Welcome to the site!
Unfortunately no, if your friend wants to keep the fuel injection and distributorless ignition, some sort of computer is required. Either GM or aftermarket ($&#036 For a basic swap the factory computer is the way to go. Readily available at junkyards across the nation, and there are a slew of folks available to reprogram them to your needs. As mentioned, Allen (site sponsor) is a good one. It's easiest to get a PCM (computer) closest to the model year of your engine so there are no sensor incompatibilties but that is not a hard and fast rule and exceptions can sometimes be handled through programming and parts changing. But for the sake of simplicity find a harness and PCM from the same model year. Watch for ETC (electronic throttle control) or conventional cable operated throttle body options on the donor vehicle and get the same year group parts if your engine is ETC equipped (throttle pedal, TAC module, throttle body and PCM must be from the same year group to minimize problems. 2001 and 2002 ETCs don't play well with 2003 and up parts)
If your buddy also has no haness those too can be purchased used and modified to your needs or you can choose a vendor to make a new one up for you. Lots of options to get this done and you are not treading new ground. There are plenty of folks who have done this swap, so dive right in and ask questions as they occur to you... and oh yeah, post some pictures of your project and share your story so others can benefit too.

There is also a carb intake and stand-alone controller that you can order. Go to SDPC2000.com and check out the LS1 stuff. I think the intake is edelbrock and the spark control box is Mallory. It lets you run a 6L engine old school style plus keep the coil-on-plug configuration.

GM Performance Parts also sells a front mount distributor drive for the LS based engines if he prefers that method. It's a replacement front timing cover. Guys will think it's a ford engine with the distributor up front and the even spaced exhaust pipes.
