water pump leak

Alright , I just did a radiator flush and was having trouble getting the air bubble out of the engine so I took the top radiator hose lose and poured some water down in that . I think that this was a mistake now ! When I went out later the water pump was leaking . Can you guys tell me if I screwed up or was it just synchronicity biting me on the ass? Thanks!! P.S. , what do these water pumps cost (98 LS1) and should I go with an improvment of some sort ?

That doesn't make sense to me. Are you sure it's from the hole in the pump and not the hose from the head steam vent piping? Used pumps are about $25 on LS1Tech. I've never bought one but they are always listed there when someone puts on a Mezziere electric pump. Those are about $550.
