Thread: radiator choice

    my radiator in my truck has a slight leak, so im just going to buy a alluminum radiator with an electric fanso when i install my 6.0l it will be colled pretty well.. i plan on just buying a universal aluminum radiator that is the same measurements as my stock one, or close to it and just an electric fan that will fit...so will there be any problem with this idea? i was planing on something like this:
    aluminum radiator
    Project: 91' short wide:
    GMC front end update with billet grille and all clears, 17x8 & 17x11 Torq Thrust II's
    5/7 drop, almost totally shaved and 93 Deville tails
    Future Plans: 2001 LQ4 6.0L & a T-56

    DD: 98' 5 speed GT : Dumped Exhaust, CAI

    That might work. It doesn't have cooling for a automatic transmission.

    My last radiator ruined my tranny because water got into the tranny cooler. So to me that is not necessarily a bad thing. I know some people prefer to keep the tranny seperate from the rad. for this very reason. The only downside is that when sitting in traffic or something your external cooler may be somewhat ineffecient, but if you get a big enough cooler it shouldn&#39;t be a prob cuz you&#39;ll still have your electric fans supplying airflow.

    Cool&#33; I&#39;ve used an external cooler alone. Just thought you should know about that part before you bought it.

    Yeah I guess it would be sort of a shock if he didn&#39;t realize it and went to hook up his tranny lines.

    I think it will cool just fine. I like the LS1 fans, works great for me.

    well where did all of you guys purchase your ls1 fans? i looked and i might just go with a universal 16" fan for now..im not really sure what else i need i know a thermastat and stuff..well let me show you guys what i plan on going with and tell me what you think.. thanks

    wiring and switch...i think?


    i need some direction in buying this stuff so any suggestions would be appreicated..thanks guys
