I hope you guys won't kill me for posting this here, but I'm thinking about swapping a LSx motor into my 1990 Chevy Caprice 9c1 (ex-police car), and since it has the same drivetrain as a '90 Chevy pickup, I figured that you guys might be able to get me pointed in the right direction.
I guess I should start with the basics:
The car has a TBI 350 and a 700r4 in it. Am I correct in thinking that a LSx motor with a 4l60e would bolt right into it's place?
What are the differences between the LSx motors? Do all the iron block ls motors weigh about the same? What about the aluminum motors? How does their weights compare to a traditional sbc? Is there anywhere that I can find a list of their respective hp and torque figures? I want to make some comparisons before I decide which motor to get.
I'm also trying to get better or at least equal mileage to what I'm getting now, which is 17 mpg with 3.42 rear gears and 225/70 r-15 tires.
Well thanks in advance!
Tim
