Where exactly, does one find the "actual" weight, printed, of my 1996 GMC C1500 pick-up? Is it on the door jamb or glove-box? Is is "actual" or "typical" weight? Thanks in advance, Gar

I'm not sure where it is, but I have a '94 reg cab pickup with ls1 and I stopped by the city brush place and weighed my truck.
On the city scale I wieghed 4020lbs and
At the track (which i don't believe) I weighed 3860lbs.
I'm 230lbs so I'm thinking my truck is just shy of 4000lbs. I really haven't found a good scale yet.
I wonder if it says it on the title or registration.
I hope that give you an idea.

My 01 weighed 4,320 at the scrap yard and I don't know how accurate their scales were. my 90 4x4 weighed 4,600 and my 99 vette weighed 3,220. I don't know of the weight given anywhere on the vehicle.

I believe you can find the weight on the shipping bill. I know a 02 GMC 1500 RCLB with 1/2 tank of fuel and tool box 5.3 auto weight 4500 lbs w/o a driver.
Lenn
should be on the title to the vehicle, or on your registration. my registration renewal came in today and im a base model v6 single cab truck and it lists my weight @ 3800lbs.

I dont know about Chevys, but the Dodges have the gross vehicle weight (dry) on the inside of the door panel.![]()

So i guess the brush dump was pretty close, with me being, 230 or so, and the truck weighing in about 4020lbs with me in it, that puts my truck about 3800lbs.
thanks sleeper,

You need to find the "curb" weight somewhere. The web most likely. The sticker on the door is GVW and is the weight of the truck with a full payload and passengers. Take the Curb weight and add yourself and any passengers, plus whatever is in the truck that is not stock (stereo equp etc..)
Got that from the Gtech manuel. They say GVWR is easier on cars since all you really need to do is subtract the passengers that are'nt there. But trucks are rated with a full payload.
