Thread: Will a T56 bolt up to an 8.1L 496?

    I need to know by wednesday if an 2004 8.1L 496 big block will bolt up to a T56 tranny? Someone has to know!?!?

    Since the 80E and the 60E interchange, the T56 should also interchange. The true issue would be the flywheel and input shaft. Surely a flywheel from a 97 camaro would work if the 98 and newer camaro doesn't work. Have you posted this question in the transmission section on LS1Tech.com?

    I see. Yes I did at the same time I posted it here. No bites yet. What do I do about the input shaft?

    Does the 8.1 engine already have a flywheel or just a flex plate for an automatic transmission?
