Thread: LS2 Swap Success and Dyno tuned

I've had the truck up and running for awhile, but have been having problems getting the tune nailed down in HP Tuners. Finally decided to take the truck in and have a local company that has done a lot of work with the LS2 tune it. Ended up putting down 330rwhp on a Mustang dyno. There is an 8 to 12% correction factor between Mustang dyno to Dynojet. Being on the conservative side with 8% would be about 350rwhp on a dynojet. The truck is very fast for being a completely stock LS2 and running the older 6.0L truck intake and throttle body. I do have a trailblazer torque converter installed with a stall of 2600rpm. We took out most of the torque management and raised the shift point to 6180rpm. Everything works on the truck besides the fuel level gauge. Only custom part that was made for the entire swap were the engine mount adaptors. Everything else was off the shelf parts from either a NBS or OBS truck. ABS, Speedo, Cruise control etc all work. No need for a converter for the tach, I was able to adjust the tach resolution in HP tuners and got it reading within 50rpm. Truck has ZERO SES codes. Just had to disable VATs on the PCM.

I'm running an '05 LS2, '05 4l65e out of an escalade, and a t-case out of a '04 NBS truck. Once I measured up the engine mount adaptors, we were able to use the stock rear driveshaft, and the front driveshaft from a NBS truck. Also used stock tranny lines, 6.0L exhaust manifolds, 6.0L cat pipes to a Flowmaster Y with 3.5" mandrel bent exhaust out from that.

We used a 5.3L engine harness and PCM from a NBS truck and mated it to the OBS fuse panel and connectors coming out of the firewall. Wiring was by far the most tedious part of the project, but really wasnt all that bad.

For the fuel pump, I bought a Racetronix kit for a '99+ F-Body and the pump dropped right in. I had to buy some intank fuel hose to connect the pump to the plastic fuel bucket fitting, but other than that, the Racetronix kit had everything needed for the install. Fuel system should easily support 600rwhp, closer to 700rwhp if we use a voltage booster. It also retains the stock Venturi feed system so no worries about running the pump dry when launching hard. I'm running the corvette fuel filter/regulator in place of the stock filter.

We ran several 1/4 Mile simulators on the dyno, and the truck is running 14.2 @ 99mph. We had problems spinning the tires on the dyno also, so that wasn't helping the 1/4 mile times. Once the track opens up, I plan on seeing how accurate that is. From a standing start while brake torqueing, the truck will spin all 4 wheels for a couple of feet. I plan to eventually get some sort of headers for the truck, possibly a cam, a better intake, and will more than likely spray it at some point also. I also have e-fans and an a/c compressor to install yet. Should get those on in the next week or so hopefully.

I'll try and get some pics up in the next day or two.

Sounds like you did a great job! How about some pics? What year model is the truck?

Sounds awesome. I'd try the Hooker NBS headers and see if they'll fit in there. The way they run their pipes grouped together just might work in the OBS truck. If they don't, you have a set of LTs for your NBS truck.

That's sounds awesome man. Where were you when I was trying to hook up my factory guages? Oh well it worked out pretty good the way I did it, just cost me an additional 500 bones. Yeah I want to see some pics too.

I had the old 6.0L intake in my garage so I just used it. When I upgrade my Camaro to a FAST intake, I'll probably put that LS2 intake on the truck.

Finally got a few pics of the swap: www.eadperformance.com/ls2truck/

We just got a ton of rain today, and I live on a dirt road so the rest of the truck is very dirty. I'll try and get some more pics once everything gets washed.

Looks good plus you got me beat by 100 HP. What are you going to do for A/C? 2-80? 2 windows down and 80 mph?
