Thread: 4l60e slipping...

1. #1
Hi guys I'm pretty new here but have found some useful info here, but now i'm stumped. I have a '05 Sierra 1500 with a vortech s-trim on it with the diablo tuner. The truck has been running solid ever since vortech installed the kit but just recently my tranny has been slipping bad in the 1-2 shift and 2-3.... My fluid was burnt so I got it flushed. That helped it a bit but it didn't fix it, and it's worse in tow-haul mode.
I don't know much about the 4l60 so if anybody has any advice it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

well dude. about 2 weeks ago my truck was slipping in the 1-2, 2-3 also. i took it in. the dealer said that they had to reprogram my PCM. because my truck was taking off in second gear. they reprogrammed it. it felt okay for about a week or so. no it starting to feel al lil ruff again. no slipping or jerking yet. but still a lil hestitant than when i first got it. so... she going in for a chack up again on tues. he said if i had to bring it back they would keep it for a day or so . so the tranny guy could look at it. ill let you know what happens.

sounds like you should give FLT trans a call. I just installed their level 5 4l65e, and that thing is awsome.

If it's slipping you will need new clutches shortly. That much torque on a stock transmission and you can kiss the clutches goodbye. When you add the vortech you are supposed to up the trans fluid pressure to help hold the clutches engaged. Sounds like time for some blue plate specials to me. You need almost a dedicated race buildup to handle the torque.

thanks,

Weak link. Be prepped to get a built tran eventually. Nurse it along til you get the $$$ to do it right.

there is a new PC selenoid out from gm to fix delayed upshift and domn shift and also a new forward clutch housing with revised passages for fluid to flow beter. your dealer should be aware of it if not there is a tech bulletin out for both concerns. hope this helps if not buy a built trans

Well here is an update... My local Gm dealer is going to cover my tranny under warrenty (YES!!&#33, the next best part is that he is gonna upgrade the clutch pack and bands to their factory HD sets.
I already picked up a transgo shift kit, along with the jet power servo etc.. etc.. so once I get it back I'll continue the mission on improving this sucka...

thanks all,
matt
