I am doing a little info searching for a plan that may happen here (if I get the car) ...
Anyway are the C5 and F-Bod LS1's the same? What about the accessories and brackets?
Can I bolt a 4L80E to an LS1 or only a 4.8/5.3/6.0?
Thanks!

Oh yeah, will I need a truck PCM to run the 4L80E or will an F-Bod/C5 one work?

I know that the motors are pretty close on hp, I'm not 100% but pretty sure its nearly identical with equal exhaust and intake, may be slight differences in cam I'm no expert so I can't tell you for sure. Not really enough to matter anyway, with the Vette LS-1 you will have an electronic tb which I hear can work fine if you get the pedals from a vette but will be extra hassle and cash probably. Accesories are mounted slightly different but the stuff that will be in the way is still in the same placeso its not that big of a deal, if you look on one of the sites that sells the motors they have pics of accesory mounting, not sure which one. I know the Street and Performance catalog has pics, the site may to.
What car is this going in anyway?
1 ton, 4600 pounds, 14.3@94mph any questions?
So you got plans to get a ls1 or something? I hope, hehe,
The ls1's are the same, they do have different cam part numbers, and supposedly the vette ls1 is more powerful then the fbody ls1. Of course , fbody's were dyno'n around 290-305, at the wheels, that ain't no 305 at the flywheel. So i would think they are very close, if you're going to cam it, it doesn't matter. I do think the ls6 is better though.
The accessories are pretty close or the same, but the configuration isn't, they are in a tad different spot. looks like the alternator and ps pump are switched. Here's the location.
You should be able to bolt an ls1 to a 80E, because ppl bolt the 6L to the trucks, and the trucks also bolt the ls1 up, so they all fit. I've never experienced it, but i hear the crank is long on the pre 01 6L blocks, but you didn't ask about that.
You'll be first i've heard of doing the pcm, let us know if you do it, i would think so, but others don't. I'd like to know for sure though.
later,
allen

Maybe I could get a 6.0 PCM and trans harness? I know this can work.
I'd get cammed before it went in and ported heads also.
Do ya know what year motors are the Z06 block?

Looks like the Corvette LS1 wiht it's higher mounted alterntor would be nice but the F-bod one would potentially work also.
Oh, this will be for this '57 Fleetwood Cadillac I am planning to scoop up if it is still available when time comes. It has this cavernous pit for an engine bay so I figure the LS1 would be perfect in there.
Should be a trip. Looks like this one except the one I want is black and really needs some help... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2433115912
