I am considering putting a 4.8 into my 1992 k1500 reg cab SB daily driver so thought the 4.8 would help with mileage. My questions are about the transmission and transfer case. Should I use the 7004R that is in there and if so how do the engine mount adapters change the angle of the transmission in relation to the transfer case?

What I would rather do is go with the engine tranny together because I imagine it to be easier and I would like a computer controlled tranny. How would I mate the 4l60e to the existing transfer case? I believe that the 4l60e is just a newer version of the 7004R so would it bolt right up?

After that I think all my questions are about wiring etc but I will save those for later. If I don't do this swap I will need to get a new truck so please help!!
    Thanks

If it was me I would find a 4.8/5.3 with the 60e and the maunal shift t-case that owuld be the easiest to swap and not to mention it would all be lower miles and it all bolts up. The diff between the 4.8 and 5.3 is not going to be enough in mileage to really even tell.
