Hi Guys,
I'm putting a 2001 LR4 truck engine in a 46 chev truck and the exhaust manifolds seem to make the whole package too wide. The flanges are too wide for my frame rails by approx 2 inches. Are the F-body manifolds tighter to the engine?
There is only so much I can do with a welder before this starts to look really cheezey.
Thanks for any info. - Mike V

If you can get me the dimensions I can measure mine and tell you if mine are different. I have a F-body engine I am building right now with stock cast iron exhaust. Be sure to detail how and where you're measuring.

C5 ones are pretty tight against the block from my memory.

yeah, the C5s are tight against the block but they exit near the center of the engine, not the rear.

That's what I recalled, they're almost like a "Block-Hugger" style header. Many street rods I've seen use a header similar to that but if they clear it could be an option... plus the flow just as well as mid length headers do.

Thanks guys,. Red Heartbeat, you prompted me to start looking at ebay pictures when I walked out in the garage with my camera, and couldn't find a darn tape measure. I guess it's time to clean. LOL. F-body manifolds look like the sh*t for me. Much tighter to the engine than the rtuck units.

I was able to squeeze the z06 manifolds in my conversion with the 5.3. there was an article in Chevy highr performance or Car Craft that tested the different manifolds based off dyno power. The C5 ones were neck and neck with the headers they tested. That convinced me to go that route, and yes they do look like the block hugger headers.
