Why would the oil level be different in relation to the valve body in different vehicles. I have a 6L80 out of a 2012 Yukon. Full hot on the dip stick is 7/8" below the flange where the pan mounts. A G8 pan oil fill hole sets the level 1/4" below that flange. A PML pan, which is identical to a Camaro pan, sets the level 3/4" below the flange. (All measurements allow for a 1/8" gasket.) Did GM just decide that the truck pan was big enough that you didn't need to fill it any higher? Are the valve bodies different on the different vehicles? If the valve bodies are the same, could you fill the truck up another 5/8" over full on the dipstick?

Are there any transmission gurus out there able to explain this discrepancy?

Thanks!
