    94 Yukon 4x4 looking to swap 6.0

I have not found a full run down on this conversion, im sure there is one though. i have found several 2wd's but no 4wd. I have read that i will need a tranny too, will i also need a transfer case? or a re sized drive line? looks like i can pick up a 6.0 and a tranny with harness and computer for about 3800.00 locally, is there any other sources i should use? Can i get a link or 2 to a complete swap run down? i know that cost can be open ended here but im looking for less high performance and more reliability and drive ability. looking for a stock looking swap that i can ref and smog in CA. Not sure of my budget yet but i would like to keep it under 5k. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if it makes a differenc it is a 94 yukon sle 4x4 with a 4" rancho lift

not to lead you away from this page because it has a ton of great technical info but check out pirate4x4.com and fullsizechevy.com there several 95 and earlier 4x4 builds on there and this page too, just have to be patient and do ALOT of homework

No need to spend that much money! I'm into my swap only $3500 and that includes buying the engine which is the pricier 6.0 LQ9 (LQ4 is cheaper), full gasket and seal set, headers, a/c relocator bracket kit, tune, and other small things. You can prob keep the trans you have and just buy a stand alone controller for it, and/or a flex plate adapter. You'll be well under $5k after you're done. To get an idea, my build is the one that titled "Just another LQ9 swap" on the thread list. I'm almost done with it, I should be able to light it off this weekend

Your swap should be very similar to mine. I used a '99 LQ4 with a 4L60E out of a '99 Escalade. I opted for the 4L60E since my truck originally had that trans and the driveshafts are set up for that trans. The only fly in the ointment though is the fact the 4L60E is a lighter duty transmission and usually doesn't hold up under the power of an LS engine. Knock on wood, my is holding up fine, but I don't beat on it either. I wasn't looking for a drag racer, just reliable transportation. I do occasionally tow snowmobile trailers but, again, I don't beat on it. I'm 20,000+ miles on my swap without any issues.

If you do stay with the 4L60E, your PCM will need to be flashed to run that transmission. When I had mine flashed to remove the VATS, I had Brendon from LT1swap.com program the PCM to run that trans while he was removing the VATS.

My combined costs for the swap were about $1200. That included the engine, trans, new radiator, mounts, and other incidentals. I sold the old 350 engine for $150 which also reduced my costs some.
    '93 Chevy 1500 4X4 ECLB with a '99 Silverado LQ4 6.0 and '99 Escalade 4L60E. SOLD IT!!
