    gear swap cost

What should a person expect to pay for a gear swap? It's for a 2004 Silverado 2500 non HD 4x4. I'm going from 3.73 to 4.56. I've called several shops in the area and asked for estimates and none have replied yet. I called one shop in Minnesota and they said it would run about 3000.00. Is that about right or does that seem high? I'm located in northern Wisconsin if anyone has any suggestions on shops... Thanks, Dave.

i just had a shop do my 4x4 in Sep. i got Motive 4.30s (usually a touch more expensive than other ratios because they're the only ones who make them for GM 8.25 & 8.5) and all the install kits/misc stuff through him. also bought a TrueTrac on eGay that he installed while it was open. total was about $1900.

Where are you located? If it's in Wisconsin or close by, do you have the name of the shop?

Found a place to do it.... Thanks guys. There was a miscommunication with the local Chevy dealership. They said they can do it, they just can't get 4.56's. They said I can supply the parts and they would do it for about 900 labor... I think that's very fair. Thanks to all. Dave.
