4x4 live axle conversion monster
I just finished my live axle conversion on my truck. It took a little bit of time and hunting for parts. I used a dodge aam front axle with custom made long arms and coil overs. I replaced the 4l60 rear wheel drive for a 4l80e with a amc suburban manual tcase and ditched the carrier bearing for a full length 3.5in steel shaft to the rear. The front drive shaft was pulled from a k5 for the double cardin and slip yoke. The rear end was swapped to a 2005 GMC 2500 aam rear end to match the front gear set which was 4.10 ratio. I had a few issues with the build, the main one was finding all the parts. to convert to the 1ton form 1/2 ton the other is one here in cali. knows how to. If I take it to a shop to have service done the mechanics get really scared to even change the oil.
So I am going to take it out to Glamis sand dunes this week end and see how this 500+ hp best is going to do with 4x4 over rear wheel. I really thing the power to weight ratio will not be an issue as this truck spines the 40in tires in two wheel drive. Nelson performance did a great tune for the Radix Magnuson Super Charger with th 6.0 swap and tranny swap all in one shot. After i got the tune I took the super charger in and had it upgraded to the current 6th Generation MP1900 roots. then i installed two 255gph fuel pumps one in tank feeding a swirl tank mounted inboard of the frame in front of the main tank, the second feeding the engine and then returning to the swirl tank.
This is a second post i think i put it in the wrong area before.
