    Need suggestions -H1 Hummer

I have a 1995 gas Hummer H1 wagon. The original large heavy ones, not H2. Back then the gasses came with GM 350's(5.7L). It currently feels very underpowered. I think new it was rated at 190 horsepower. It's very sluggish and underpowered feeling. I'm not much of an engine guy but I'm starting my research. The truck currently has a 4L80E transmission so from what I hear a LS1 should bolt right up. Do I want an LS1? Or some other LSX version? Someone point me in the right direction please.

^^^ What he said. Either an LQ4 or LQ9. Either of those are torque motors by being in trucks. You need torque to move that thing instead of Horsepower.
Been lurking since 09 and I finally have my kickass 6.0 LQ4

^^^^^^I agree with them. Get the largest displacement you can to get it moving. Switching to a 6.0 will make a world of difference.

honestly a LS motor isnt best choice for that motor that is so heavy as a LS doesnt make torque where its needed NA

    look into a 8.1 swap
    look into a Dmax swap

or the cheap and proven swap a 6Bt swap theres a guy that sells them in ohio fairly cheap 6bt is a 12v cummins

What sort of $$ am I looking at to go diesel or gas? The diesel swaps I've heard of have been quite pricey. My budget would be on the lower end at the moment.

KINDA off topic but this post got me wondering... what TQ numbers do you think you could get out of a 6.0/6.2 bored and stroked to the max with a super high rise intake, LT's, Torque minded cam??? and of course a turbo if that isnt enough... i know that route is not what the OP should do as it would be WAAY expensive not to mention cost:gain compared to a dmax. just thinking if you just had the money laying around (i wish), could the torque be comparable???

i think it would be bad ass to see a stroked out LSX to get an H1 to move out!!! lol
