Okay guys I bought a harness offline and it doesn't have the wiring for the 4l60 built in. Can I leave the factory computer in and let it control the shifting? or do I need to just suck it up and buy a harness that has 60e wiring made in?

i figure if the factory ecm can control it, im gonna put a shift kit and servo in it and call it a day. Someone please tell me it will work.

im not sure exactly what you mean when you say the wiring was left out... was this a custom stand alone harness made for a manual trans vehicle? did you not know the wiring was missing or something? why buy it if you have auto???
anyway, afaik, the pcm controlling the motor has to also control the trans as the trans needs to know vehicle speed, rpm, tcc brake signal, etc. im pretty sure you cant use one comp for the motor and one for the trans as each one wont know what the other needs/wants/is doing.... i know they have trans controller modules but ive never used one and i know they are expensive.
if i was you, just return the thing, have them add the wiring in, or just add the wires yourself. its like only 10 of them. in fact, im assuming you have a running truck already, just steal the trans wires/connectors from the harness you have now and add it to the one you bought since you have to pull the old one anyway.
Like Tumbler in "Gone in 60" I'll drive anything with wheels or without

Why cant I just supply the factory Tahoe ECM with TPS signal and let the it control the shifting? that's all aftermarket controllers need from the engine. Ive used a baumann in the past and that's all it needed. and I am not so focused on the ls harness controlling it as I am my speedo and cruise working.

I posted in your other thread, as for speedo and cruise, I'm a 5 speed guy and deleted all the auto trans wiring from my harness and my speedo and cruise work. But I'm not sure on your theory of running both computes, also you would have to chip the old ecm or your trans is going to shift midway through you power band of the new ls motor, my little 4.8 don't get its power until were the old TBI motor was out of breath and shifting. Just something to think about
To sum things up, its probly going to be less of a headache and possibly cheaper to let the ls pcm, or an aftermarket controller to run the trans.

where did you wire your vss? if you aren't using the stock computer can you tell me what wires from the las harness you wired into what wires on your truck to keep them working.

I'm sure he wired his vss to his pcm. That way it knows how fast the truck is going but I'm sure the auto was tuned out since he's running a manual.
As far as the pcm controlling the trans alone, I've never seen it done and I don't think it's possible. It's not meant to be a "trans controller" only. You posted another thread about this after tou didn't get the answer you wanted right away. You could have added the 13 wires today and had it done with instead of dicking around trying to run two pcm's. Just hook it up like it's supposed to be and be done with it. And on top of that, trouble shooting Will be much easier that way
