    '04 C5 LS1 longblock; good for swap?

    Hey guys-

So I have the '98 2 door Tahoe, about to pull the trigger on the 'ol LS swap, couple of questions.

The all-aluminum LS1 5.7... seems like it would be more torquey than a 5.3. Camshaft is damn near identical, if not identical. Smart choice for the Tahoe, over the 5.3? Durability?
Dude has one on CL for decently cheap, that's why I ask. I would run the truck intake, accessories and harness, no big deal. Running EFILive on an 0411 for the Tahoe.

Cutting 100lbs of weight is attractive, but then there are all those F-Body guys running iron LQ4 blocks, etc, for strength (probably only on FI cars tho).

So... 5.7 LS1 over the 5.3 LM7 into the Tahoe?

    Thanks guys

If the LS1 can be had for cheap, run that one. A lot of people move towards a 5.3/4.8 because most of the time they can be had for half of the price (usually) of an LS1.

    On that note...

Happen to know the differences between the LS1 and the LM7/LQ4 timing cover?
Does it use the same crank pos (think that is in the back, actually?)/cam pos connectors? I THINK it does, but I'm not sure. Also, the long block doesn't have a balancer on it, I'm assuming the truck balancer is interchangeable... can anyone confirm that stuff?

All the accessories from a 4.8 5.3 6.0 are interchangeable with the 5.7.
