    Hello everyone

Hi guys, I'm Terry, as you probably guessed. I'm basically just looking to see if I want to attempt a swap on any of my old junk. I have a 00 GMT400 CC/SB Sierra K2500 with a very well worn 5.7L/4L80E, a 99 GMT400 Suburban K1500 with a leaky 5.7L/4L60E, a 84 K5 with a fresh 350/worn TH700R4, and a 84 Monte Carlo SS with a fairly new 305 that has no transmission in it right now.

The Suburban is going to need an engine this summer. It's going to cost me ~$2000 to put a reman 5.7L in it but it's the wife's DD/Baby toter but I'm leaning more and more toward a 5.3 swap. Don't know if I have the balls to do it though.

The Sierra has 270K on it and I've been considering a 7.4L swap from a GMT400 truck for simplicity sake. I get about 10/12mpg now, so the big block will be more power and about the same fuel economy. However, I've been looking toward a 6.0L/4L80E from a newer truck (and because I'm a glutton for punishment and dream bigger than I build, have even considered a 6.2L from a later Suburban type chassis with DoD to really get some fuel mileage out of it if that combo is even possible.) I'm working on a step side bed swap onto it right now. The bed is painted but it's been too cold to do the moldings or paint the hardware for the tailgate.

If I attempt either of those and can actually complete them, I'm considering a 6.0L/6.2L with a six speed in the Monte Carlo since it's a project that hasn't even been started yet. No direction or anything on it since I've been working on my Sierra since I bought it. I just told myself I wasn't going to touch it till the bed was swapped on the Sierra and I had clocked the t-case on the K5.

I doubt the K5 will ever get any kinda swapping except for alike replacement of the original drive line. It's the off-road toy and I'm generally against pulling stuff apart for big changes if they work as-is for what I want and double locked on 33's with a 2" lift has done everything I've asked of it so far. Clocking the t-case flat and cross-over steering are the only plans I have for it in the foreseeable future.

So, I'll be lurking around and searching. I just wanted to join up incase I needed to ask any questions of members. I generally PM people instead of making posts, but just so I know, do you guys prefer resurrecting old threads to starting new ones on the same topic? Some forums I'm on prefer new threads to bring back old ones then other like keeping old threads alive.

Yeah, I'm hobby poor... Suburban has taken center stage. We were in Richmond this weekend and in a 3 hour drive it used almost a gallon of anti-freeze. Such is life I guess.
