Well, picked me up another LS1/4spd auto combination today out of a TransAm. Paid a total of $1624 for the complete drop-out assembly. The guy says it's a 98 but it has centerbolt valve covers like a 99+ has. Maybe it's been swapped out before or something. The odometer said it had 134k on the car but the engine looked too good for that many miles. I guess I need to get me a HPTuner package on the way as soon as I can get the year model off the PCM. Oh to hell with that, I'll just order the 2002 F-body tuner since that's the best PCM around for the LS1. Anyone in the DFW area want a HPTuner license for their year model truck? When you buy the kit you get licenses for two vehicles and I only have a need for one.

Well, got the engine and it is a 98 model. Not a bad thing since my last engine was a 98 also when it first started out and ended up with polished 02 heads. Anyone know how to install one of these things in an OBS truck?

Picked up a few more goodies for the conversion. Ebay-scored an Auburn 8.5" limited slip diff. Picked up a Precision Industries Vigilante 3600 stall off of LS1Tech. I guess I'll go with 4.10 gears again from 4wheelparts.com. Got my Chrome Corvette wagon wheels mounted on the truck via 2" wide adapters and a little clearance work on the front side of the lower a-arms. I used a cutoff wheel mounted on the 4.5" angle grinder to clearance the a-arms for the wheels. Bought new Nitto 404s size 285/50/18s to mount on the truck and had to roll the front fender lips up to keep from cutting up the edges of the tires. Installed a new stereo system with a probox sub holding 2-12s. Bought a shaved door handle kit and all the goodies to smooth the door handles off.

Now, if I only had time to install all this cool stuff!!!!

Leaks? Throw a bucket under that leak and save me some of that high octane fuel! I hope to have a need for it before too long.

What do y'all think of this transmission cooler? Should work pretty good to cool down a 3600 rpm stall convertor?

Well, I just purchased a HUGE camshaft for this engine. I think it will be be pushing the limits of a set of 918 valve springs. Its a COMP cam and the specs are 232/228 610/595 113. The seller says it is a turbo grind. Hmmmm....where might I be going from here?
