I have a silverado with a 5.3 in it. A friend of mine has a set of 243 heads from a trail blazer ss. He says by putting them on my 05 silverado 5.3 it will gain 30 hp. Is this true?

hes getting that number probably from the GENIV trucks having 243s and being 30hp stronger....theres more to that number then just the heads...the cam, intake, compression and heads made the 30hp difference
so answer your question no you wont gain 30hp, what you gain in flow youll lose in compression...it be a toss up

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference
Thanks. I had a feeling it wouldn't be worth the time and money for the swap on a stock motor.

you would have to have the flat top pistons that come in the new 5.3 to get that extra 30HP
