    89 5.3 swap questions

    Which mount adapters to use?
    A/c relocation bracket to use?
    How do I get the Speedo to work?
    which headers to use?

    I used dirty dingo mounts for motor very easy.I bought a used dirty dingo a/c bracket and it works great but a seen smewhere holley is making an a/c bracket.I ran my speedo off trucks original comp and i used schoefeld headers.I have a 1992 2wd stick.

    Thank you. I read dirty dingos are the best. I'll look for the a/c bracket.
    And isn't the Speedo a cable Speedo or is it electric on the 89? Cause I have a 2002 4l60e and so the speed sensor is electric.
    Those headers are expensive aren't they? The guy im doing this for is on a tight budget.

    89 is electric but it has the drac built into the gauge." moonies" There are ways to get around it, but they where all to difficult. The easyest way is to switch to the needle gauges from like a early 90s body style, or just go with a aftermarket set like I did

    So being an electric Speedo and hooking it up to the 4l60e speed sensor it won't work? on my 81 swap I swapped the gauges to like a 90 burban I think and it works fine. I guess I dont understand how the 89 gauge being a Moonie is difficult. I'm doing this for a friend on his truck. My truck is great.
