LS1 Swap, starting my build thread

first off, its coming out of a 98 z28 camaro. it was my buddies car that got t boned in the rear, he didnt make it through the accident, he told me and another friend that if his car got wrecked for any reason, he would want the drivetrain to go in another vehicle, he was way to proud of his ls1 to ever let it go to a salvage yard. His parents asked us if we wanted to take some memories from his car before they let insurance take it away and we told them what he told us about his car so we bought it back from insurance and his dad also liked the idea and is gonna be part of the project. This is my first swap, its a project for me and my friends in memory of him so its a pretty sentimental build, any tips would be much appreciated, everybody on this forum has been extremely helpful so far, thanks guys!

I am sorry to hear the circumstamces of which you recieved this drivetrain, but he will be watching you guys as you do the swap. Not to be morbid or anything but my 97' Firebird that I did a swap in, was the next door neighbors car. His son took the car for a joy ride without permission, and hit a retaining wall doing about 50 mph. He was ejected from the car and killed upon impact, his dad gave me the drivetrain and I bought the donor car and we worked on it together. Great experience, sometimes I feel like I'm not alone in the car.....

Sorry to hear about accident and the loss of a friend. The ls1 swap is s great way to remember your friend, a "in Memory of " sticker should be made after the swap is done.
