    Angry alternator help!!!

    im having trouble with my alternator charging, what i dont get is the alternator is good though.im geuss its hooked up right or whatever. well,anyways its in a 91 silverado its a 5.3 with a carb on top. would i have to change out the obs pigtail on the alternator or should it work with it? im just going in circles with this damn thing it making me mad...if someone would post a picture of the carb ls for me would help....

    Unless you've changed a lot of stuff the '91 needs the instrument cluster (voltage gauge) hooked up and operational as the buffer for the turn on signal is built in. Later vehicles have that as part of the job of the PCM. I'm sure I've made some of this confusing, some possibly incorrect. Allen, Greg, others that have done similar swaps can answer for sure. They have better work around solutions in almost all cases. I just know how the stock stuff works in most cases.

    need to know what year PCM and alternator. A pic of the connector going to the alternator would be helpful, too. On the early model alternators you just hook up the old alt wire from the 91 harness to the small lead on the donor alt.
