    1985 C/10 5.3 with manual trans.....Options?

IMG_3024.jpgFirst time poster here. I'm an old drag racer and longtime hotrodder and I'm looking toward my first time LS swap. I would LOVE some opinions on my new project. It’s a very clean 1985 SWB TWD C/10 original paint. It’s a V6 manual trans,3 speed on the column. It has NO AC,ps,pb, or even radio. I'll lower the truck a little and put some street tread on it.
    Here or my goals.
    1. SAPS (simple as possible swap) 5.3 2006 up ? I have one located for 600 with computer. I’m not stuck on this engine if something is easier I’m all for it!
    2. Would like to keep some kind of manual trans since the truck has a hydraulic clutch now. Would like to have Hurst shifter lever stuck through the floor mated to whatever tranny works out best. (Best could be read as easy and cheap)
    3. Fairly inexpensive. (Maybe 2000 for all parts?)
    4. High performance not really an issue may bump cam up a little for sound.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I have used the search function on this wonderful site. I haven't found this application YET .............Thanks, Mark

Whats your goal? My suggestion, no matter what motor you get is to get a drive by cable throttle body. It will make your life a little easier in my opinion. If you arent looking for alot of power the cheapest route is to go with a 4.8/5.3.

If you get a DBW just get the pedal and the control module on the firewall plus all wiring it is super easy to do DBW. And I would find a T56 from a late 90s camaro should be able to find one at a decent price.

    ^^^ what he said
The dbw will save you some time, and simplify things. A T56 is a great conversion, but I am not sure a 5.3/T56 could be done for $2000 unless you find a really great deal on the transmission with a good clutch.
GM mated a 5 speed to some of the 4.8L that might be an option. I don't however think they would withstand a lot of power, but for what you describe that may be an option as well.
