The larger lift and duration would work best with bigger injectors, Tb and LS6 intake and a dyno tune. It might give this 5.3L a little more but to get the true potential you would want to upgrade to the above mentioned stuff. I used the LS2 cam mainly to keep it cost effective and easily tuned with a mail order tune , and I had it on hand. Now if you threw that .550/550 on a stock head (not ported) it would do really good with the 27#ers due to less air flow and it needing less fuel to optimize combustion, but porting the heads and using that cam you need lots more fuel to atomize properly and not run lean. So like I said yes and no.
Heck you should have seen that lil 4.8L we were screwing around with a couple months ago
I kept porting the heads out more and more we used the MS4 cam it finally blew using 42#ers ported TB and intake
with the heads flowing 308@.600L making 490hp on the stock bottom end, It blew a hole in the piston. I think if we went to 60+ pounders it would have kept going...lol
Just a junk yard 4.8L I had lying around I don't even know how many miles were on it, It was a grease trap..lol
