    New LSx guy...

Hey all, I've been lurking for a while, figured I'd finally make a post and say whats up. Name is Doug, hailing from the great Pacific NW. I have been doing customs for about 15 years now and out of habit, have been stuffing carbed small blocks into pretty much everything. Over the last few years, I have slowly come to see the ways of modern power plants. We stuffed an LT1 into a Mazda B2200 pickup (along with various other chassis and body mods), and the flat torque curve, throttle response and milage pretty much had me hooked...here are a couple pics...

For my personal project (if you couldnt tell, I like mini trucks...lol), I've been building an '85 S-10 blazer for the last 10 years or so, and it's been in various states of "done". Last round was full air suspension, body dropped and small blocked...almost ready for paint when I tore it down. Here's what she looked like..

As of now, it sits with a new frame from the firewall back, with a new body waiting. As of last night, I'm the proud owner of an '05 LQ4 with about 280k on the odometer. I picked it up complete with ecu, harness and all accessories. Plans are for rebuild, cam and decent tune, shooting for a reasonable 400+ hp.

Few shots of the new frame...

And the LQ4 waiting in the wings....

    wow..that was a hell of a first post..lol

As I expected, crank is wiped. Front 4 rod bearings and front 2 mains are shot. 2 and 6 rods bearings actually heat seized and welded themselves to the rods, so 2 rods are shot..

Here's a shot of the main bearings...the front 3 were totally wiped, back 2 look brand new..lol

    Front:

    Rear:

New rods and crank to replace the obliterated stockers....

If all goes well this week, my small block will be sold, and I'll be able to order up the rest of the parts to get this beast back together. I'm seriously considering going with teh lq9 pistons just to get some CR back and bump up the power. I will be picking up a Texas Speed and Performance Torquer V2 cam kit, and it looks like a buddy and I will be splitting the cost of EFI live with the multiple licenses, so there will be some tuning going on

Welcome, gotta friend with a bagged and bodydropped 2200. Trying to convince him to put a LS in it, but he's stuck on the turbo 4 cylinder. Sucker was actually featured in Mini Truckin' http://www.minitruckinweb.com/tech/e...ood/index.html. Still slower than a bottle fed 4.3 though

Everything looks great bud. Just one word of advice. Watch the language on this forum. We have pretty strict rules on here regarding that. Other than that, welcome and hope we can help you.

My apologies on the language... Won't happen again

Thanks for the comments so far. This is a fun engine to build, and I'm pretty stoked to get it back together to see what it can do.

I actually had the Mazda shot for MT last year for an under construction feature, hopefully it will make it out in the next few issues.

Turbo Mic, shoot me a PM with a price on some LQ9 pistons if you have a set...that would be awesome..

Oh I don't care if you swear. The mods do. Just trying to save you a little hassle. No need to say sorry to me lol.
