03 Silverado Transmission Q's 1-2 shift and 2-3rd and dropdown

Trans was replaced at 109K due to slippage. Got another new rebuilt from an 05. Never liked the way the trucks shifts from 1-2 gear. It feels almost like it shifts twice. I hoped the rebuild trans would be different but its the same. It has a different feel tho from 2-3, it seems to slightly rev rpms before the shift. This is under moderate acceleration. Under fast acceleration, it shifts better. The 1-2 shift has never felt right. Love the truck, dislike the trans. Ive searched this site and just ordered the corvette servo hoping this will be my cure. Figured Id try this then step up to the billet if neccessary. I really dont want a hard shift such as how it does in tow mode. However, in tow mode- I dont get the awkward 1-2 shift.

Sorry so long, but also if you step on it at higher speed, the downshift takes forever and then it drops all the way to 2nd. I noticed on the billet servo kit- they boast that kickdown is faster with their kit. Is that true? Is this how everyone elses shifts? Any help would be appreciated. Ill post back after the servo swap too.

The reason for the slow shifts sounds like low line pressure, or a weak pump,i have the billet 2nd and 4th and yes i noticed faster down shifts, and it will go to 2nd if ur no at a fast speed or havehigh gears in diffs, the servos should help a bounch, if not i would say check ur line pressure

You could also change your shift solenoids theyre cheap so i say why not, alsoyou need the billet accumulator pistons along with that servo your trans should last awhile.

okay, Just installed the vette servo. All I gotta say is wow! Got it off ebay for $15.00 shipped to the door. The truck shifts tons better and it doesnt have the double shift feel anymore and its a nice solid feel if your under the throttle. Im actually not worried to give it gas. It took me an hour but it should have only taken 20 min. to install. Got messed up at the end with the snap ring. I didnt have the mechanism compressed enough. I was afraid to put some real pressure to it. I used a large handled screw driver to wedge against the servo housing and the truck to get leverage to install the snapring. All the disassembly and reassembly was cake. Anybody with slight mechanical abilities can do this. Im happy with the shifting now. I dont think the billet setup is neccessary at this point. Its just my Daily driver stock 5.3L pickup. If it was modified than I could see it. Hope this helps anyone that is skeptical on this install. Just do it! You wont regret it!

is there not anything special that you have to do when you do the vette servo. i don't know much about it, but i was always under the impression that it required a tune or something to work right. my tranny does the same thing. 1-2 shift not so much, but the kick down bothers me. if you mash the pedal, it almost always kicks down to 2nd, which depending on the speed, can make the engine rev to 5000+ rpm. when this happens, it immediately will shift back up to 3rd. it just seems that this is real harsh on the tranny, not to mention i don't like revving the engine that high considering it's pushing 200K and still all stock. did the vette servo do anything for you there?
i have always thought it would have to be tuned to fix that.

no tune needed and you can do it with minimal mechanics knowledge

I havent tried the kickdown yet from 4th but I will and then get back to you. Ever since I read about how hard it is on the trans, I will from now on manually pull it into 3rd first. The truck feels like a new truck. Been driving it around all day lovin the better shifts.
