    1999 silverado stereo help

I have a 1999 silverado with the factory am/fm/cassette, i want to swap it out for the factory am/fm/CD player as they look identical except for the cd instead of cassette, my question is, what other years will be the same stereo, is it just 99-02 or were there other years that has this stereo? I tried one out of a 2006 as it looked to be the same size but it wouldnt work, didnt even mount up the same..

95-98 will also work, but I don't think the factory cd was built into the radio (for trucks) until about 01. In my absolute most honest opinion, don't waste your money on a factory radio. They sound like garbage and have very few options for expansion.

Take the factory radio's departure from the world of functional electronics as a sign that it's time to move on to brighter and greener pastures, with sd slots and usb connectivity. An aftermarket unit is the way to go, and the install is easy.
