Hi,
Putting a 99 LS1 into my 93 Chevy Extended cab. Have a TBI 5.7 currently that is warmed up. It has an Edelbrock performer intake (part # 3704), JET TBI, TBI spacer, Canfield 195cc Aluminum heads. These are pretty nice heads - though their not ported:
Intake Valve Size 2.055
Exhaust Valve Size 1.60
Intake Port Vol. 195
Chamber Volume 65
I also have Harland Sharp 1.6:1 Roller Rockers, 10.5:1 CR JE/SRP Aluminum pistons, Crane "Emission-legal" cam (216/228@.50 with .454/.480 - before adding the roller rockers - basically an oldschool hotcam), StageII Connecting Rods, the rotating assembly is balanced/blueprinted and has Total Seal rings. I use Edelbrock's part #6666 Tubular Exhaust System (headers) into a highflow cat fed into a Gibson cat-back. Also 3.73 w/ PowerTraxx locking diff in the rear.
I dynoed it and the numbers were impressive compared to the stock small-block. I put 255hp and 320lb tq to the rear wheels. Thats about 100hp over what the stock engine did. I hit 0-60 pretty quickly (just under 7.0) and 1/4 time with ET Streets came out at just over 15.0 (hey, its an extended cab pickup - what'd you expect?).
Anyway, switching in this 99 LS1 with AFR 205cc Mongoose heads, LS6 cam (204/218@.50), 90mm Throttle body, Edelbrock TES again for the headers into the same Gibson. Have heard I could expect 340hp at the rear wheels just from the heads. The engine is healthy, came from a good friends' Camaro - the engine comes with its computer. Also shaving off another 200lbs just because of the aluminum block doesn't hurt.
This is a great board and I've learned alot about all l the things I'll need to make sure are done right. I know I'll have to do the following major things - new radiator, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new alternator, new starter, rewire for the ciruits into the trucks electronic panel, motor mounts. Anything else you guys think I should be worried about (the truck has a 4L60E tranny already)?
Thanks,
Thomas
