id say if your spending the money for a new truck anyways might as well shell out a little more and get a bigger motor and transmission

I love my 6.2. You're already getting a big ass truck. Mileage is... well... its a big old truck. I get 18-20 cruising with 3.42 gears in my crew cab. I would say the most important think is you don't get a truck with 3.08 gears, as they are offering those now on the majority of trucks.

The 6l80e takes a little more work on the tune to get it shifting nicely, but it is well worth it when you feel it pull and never drop below X number RPM like a 4l60 or 4l80

Yea most of the trucks i have looked at have 3:42 gears and with the super low first gear in the 6l80 i figure that would be good enough. I will take it to Allen for a live tune when the time comes. Thanks for the input...

The 6.0L is not that slow. I have a 6.0L with a 2ML70 and 3.08 gears. 25 mpg highway and 23+ mpg in the city. Pulls a trailer with the race car or truck easy. And I kick the arse of the FX4 5.4L. I know is not that good, but winning Fords always tastes sweet !
