5.3 swap into 87 4x4

I have a 5.3 that came out of my grandpa's 99 silverado. It has a good bit of miles on it but i was wanting to try to rebuild it to swap into my 87 using the 700r4 and the fi from the motor. I have a computer, wiring harness. What else do i need for the swap? Will all of the stock gauges still work? How will i know what is the right wires and connectors from the harness to use?
