    5.3 Build

Looking for positive input on this motor.

Going to be a daily driver for one of my 2 trucks in the future, I want to get maybe 30 or so more ponies over stock.

I have a set of LS-1 heads to bolt on also , going to mill them 30 for more compression since they have bigger chambers.

looking for a bigger cam but unsure on a proven size.

Can I get the HP from the heads and cam and proper tune?

easily... Im not for sure just how much youll pick up from that, but it should be over 30. Toss in a CAI and some LTs and youll be golden.

Full bolt ons and a tune will exceed 30 RWHP. No need for cam/heads if thats all you are looking for.

Just so you know the only difference between 5.3 heads and LS1 heads is the combustion chamber (The LS1 being larger) so you'll gain more from milling the truck heads.

OK, they are 806's castings which are the "worst" of the ls1 series head , the best would be the 243 from a Z-06 motor. true statement ?

these should flow 240cfm 69cc ? , Theres really no noticable performance difference between most in stock form.

I know I can get the 30 ponies with bolt on but would like to get this 30 straight from the motor, whats a good cam to work with this head that will wake it up a bit?

just post a few up and I'll spec them out, thanks

Something similar to, but no bigger than, a 214/220 on 116 maybe? I'm just throwing out my best guess. I'm not an expert. When I bought a cam for my Z28 I had a custom one made. All I had to do was tell them what I had and what I wanted, and I don't think it cost anymore than an off-the-shelf cam.
