    Fully committed now..

Well i have been debating selling the truck for something newer until... driving home last night (easy, in no rush what so ever) and it shifted into third and neutralized? revved to 5k with no one home. So i backed off, go to push the gas again, and once again no one home in third. So limped it home in 2. So all in all, there is no 3rd or OD. I do have 1,2 and reverse. Called a performance trans place out in minneapolis area and got a quote of ~$1600. I'd love to do it myself but dont have the time honestly. So wondering what i should do with the rebuild as fas as what should go in it. Any thoughts would be great as i am dropping it off tomoorrow.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Could be clutches or shift solenoid. PM redheartbeat, he can tell you what it wrong with it. Maybe save you some cash.

Your 3-4 clutch packs are toast.

A rebuild MIGHT hold. Might not...

My suggestion: have a basic rebuild done, then sell it and get an 80e...otherwise you're going to be posting this again before too long...

hmmm interesting, and 80E should be a newer one from a 2500 or something. and then do the 60e to 80e swap.

absolutly agree with moze i went through 5 fully built 60's with only 480 hp they would last may be 2-3 months i finally bit the bullet and put a 8- in is and have had NO problems going on 5 months now (knock on wood) but they are more expensive to build but for a very good reason and if you gety one get one out of a 02 or newer cause they have a better fluid routing system in them

that stinks. you must of had a warrenty? i mean its still a hassle but not a pocket killer. well, i will be getting it back this morning around 10, putting it back in driving for about a month then it sits ALL winter, so i'll be able to search for an 80e and my parts to do the swap. Also will be looking for a 6.0 i've had my fun with the 4.8. but want more..
