Where to start with the 5.3L?

Just got rid of my favorite short wide bed chevy (2000) for a 09 GMC Sierra 2WD 5.3L. After looking up the vin I found out the engine is a LY5.

My question is where to start on getting more power out of this engine. Currently this truck only has a K&N drop in filter and a Flowmaster cat-back system. Where should I go from here as far as bolt ons or any tuning tips to get more power out of this engine?

    My plans are:
Hooker long tube headers & Y pipe with my current flowmaster 40's series muffler, not a big flowmaster fan but if what im going to use now.

Maybe a Hypertech programmer and a MAC Cold Air Intake..

    What would you suggest?

Even little things like removing mass air screen or any tips you know of would help...

    Thanks alot,

    Ryan

Thanks guys, I think the first thing on my list is gonna be the nelson tune, then intake, headers and hopefully a cam to follow.

Sleeper, I may spray it one day but that will be a last resort for me.
