    transfer case selector acting up

    awhile back i had a issue with my t/c selector going haywire and randomly being in diffrent gears some sugested to clean the grounds and well its now doing it again but flashing service 4x4 and the other day all the lights for the diffrent 4x4 gear sellections were out and the dic flashed service 4x4 but after it sat off for 30mins or so and i started it back up it was fine and back in 2wd.

    I had the same kinda problem when I bought my truck used in 04 turned out to be the switch on the dash itself. Take one out of a friends and give it a try before you buy.

    Mine was doing this also. A friend of mine who is a GM tech said to replace the switch or resolder all the connections inside. The cheap scape and rigger in me decided to solder it. Has not acted up for two years now.

    well i know when i had the problem before it would actualy be in like lets say 4lo or auto 4x4 usualy when it would show 4lo it didnt act 100% like it does when i put it in the gear but i could tell something wasnt right. ill try to pull it apart maybe this weekend and see whats going on.

    Did you fix this yet or has it stopped acting up?

    The 4wd switch itself goes bad eventually. That, or the transfer case motor has a connection go bad. Both are cheap fixes

    mine did the same thing and i replaced the switch in the dash for $125 and haven't had a problem since

    if i can find a day where i have time to look at it i will been working alot lately and had to pull the heads off my k10 the other day so im in the process of putting that back together.

    More than likely it's the motor. BUT i have a extra push button switch out of my 99 if you would like me to send it your way just to help eliminate one thing.
