Looking for some ideas on a swap: 00 tahoe limited to a 07 5.3 with trans

As the title states. I picked up a 00 tahoe limited old body style over this last weekend. The previous owner started a swap to a 07 5.3 with the 07 trans. The engine and trans are already in the truck. I was able to get the complete wiring harness from the 07 donor vehicle minus computer. However the original harness (2000 tahoe) was m.i.a. But i was able to get the original computer (2000 tahoe). I have a main harness from a 1996 tahoe. I talked to hotrodlane.cc this morning. They recommended that i buy one of they're harness kits to fit the 1996 tahoe harness. Theyre harness basically provides the correct connectors to fit the 07 components while using the 1996 harness with a few other mods. Cost of about $1500 for the whole show. I talked to erica at nelsons earlier. They said for about 450 for the 07 harness mods +300 for a reflash i could be running. Heres the deal. I basically have 2 complete harnesses (the 07 and the 1996), the computer from the '00. I can buy a computer from a local yard or ebay for the 07 eng/trans and have it reflashed to eliminate the vats etc. Why cant i run the full 07 harness in the engine bay, use selected outputs and inputs inside the vehicle, and run the 00 computer to power the bcm, abs, airbag systems, volt, coolant, oil pr, speedo and tach for the cluster? I have about 15 years experience with gm as a technician and am fully capable of re-wiring and modifying. Thanks for any info and advise. it is much appreciated. Robb

First off a 96 harness is set up for a 5 plug PCM, while the 2000 OBS would be a 4 plug PCM. I believe you can convert it though.

OBS Tahoe doesn't have a BCM (only the Denali and Escalade in OBS), the SRS (airbag doesn't need the PCM to work), neither do the guages, ABS probably only needs a VSS signal.

I would plug in the 96 engine harness and then take out all the parts you won't need anymore. Leave the fuse box for use with a standalone 07 engine/trans harness, or rework your 07 harness to standalone. Shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks pitchblack. Do you happen to have a schematic for the 07 harness on what to remove to convert to standalone? SI does'nt really support these kind of mods.
