Question crinkle bend vs mandrel bend exhaust

Ok so I have some new BBK headers to put on my 6.0 but nothing to put on downstream. They have 2 5/8 collectors. I was thinking instead of spending a ton of money on mandrel bent 2 5/8 pipe to fab the exhaust sytem maybe just using like 3 inch crinkle bent pipe instead. The 3 inch should make up about the same as 2 5/8 with all the restrictions the crinkle puts in it, right?? What do you guys think about doing it this way??? I plan on going dual 3 inch into the muffler and dual 3 inch coming out to the tips.

I would say even with the crinkled piping you would still loose to much back pressure. I have 3 inch like stock ot teh muffler then dualed out using the 2 and what ever diameter. Read my signature. I think the crinkled piping kept enoujgh of the back pressure to keep from huting my low end and such. Just my 2 cents though.

what size primaries are those headers? are they long tubed or short?

2 5/8s is a rather small collector even for a 6 liter even if it is stock.. i run dynatechs on my ecsb ( all stock ) except tune with 3" dual exhaust i thought it was to much and went to 2.5 duals boy did i screw up

Go with mandrel bends. It is worth the extra money.

I have mandrel bent pipe running from stock Y to about a foot past my cab, it's dumped with no muffler, and i got a LOT of lowend when I did it.

I don't buy into the 'too much flow' thing, unless you're running open headers on a completely stock engine, you should be fine.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

My exhaust is all mandrel bent. I prefer it that way. I just couldn't see myself doing all that work and then having a crinkle bent exhaust.

Or buy a builder kit from these guys. Get stainless or aluminized. It works good for turbo tubing, too. http://www.mandrel-bends.com/catalog...400c496c741baf

Forgot about heartthrob, I like them also. I got my bends from summit racing. I used www.heartthrobexhaust.com for one bend that was past 90 degrees. I made a template and took it to a muffler shop, and they crinkle bent it. I then checked the fit on the truck. Once I was happy with it I shipped it to heartthrob and they mandrel bent a piece for me. Perfect fit. Thanks for the link Greg.

I will take this into advice and prob just go with the mandrel bend set up, the Headers are a set of shorties from BBK I picked up for 150 used, (it was that or reuse the stock manifolds) They look to be almost the same size and dimensions as the factory manifolds but I no longer have them to compare, The only reason I was considering using crinkle bend was I was going to have to run all new exhaust from the headers back (cat delete of course) and didnt want to end up dropping 1000 bucks on my exhaust like my last project My wife will literally kill me LOL Thanks Guys
