    84 c10 2wd 5.3 4l60e install

I have a 84 c10 that i am installing a 5.3 out of a 1999 chevy pickup. I had a 4l60e transmission built and now have the joy of getting my harness done, cpu programmed and the fuel delivered.

    1. where is the best place to get a harness reworked/cpu done (price)

    2. what walbro external fuel pump works with the 99 fuel rail that has the integrated regulator.

    3. can i use the 4l60e without a speedometer? the guy was telling me it wouldnt shift if i didnt have a speedo??

also can i use the factory fuel lines and adapt them too the fuel pump and fuel rail with braid and connectors?

send the stock harness and engine harness to Nelson Performance and they will marry them together and can program your PCM or supply you with a pre-programmed PCM to go with your setup. You can use a Walbro external pump but I'd get a Bosch 044 pump, pre and post fuel filters to supply your fuel so that you will always have enough fuel. Run 1/2" to the engine and 3/8" as a return line. Normally they'd be 3/8" and 5/16" but this way you will be ready if you decide to do power adders later. Yes, you must run the speedo sensor, not sure why you would consider not using it in the first place. Braided line is fine for all the fuel lines, I get all mine from Summitracing.com for the best prices. Lay it all out in your head or maybe look at the Front Page topic about sumping a fuel tank for some part numbers needed when using braided line and a 044 fuel pump.

Wait, why would he need a speedometer? All he needs is the VSS. As long as the trans vss is talkin to the PCM then it should work fine. And to make your speedometer work you need to get a speedo out of a suburban from the last couple years of that generation.

Surely the VSS feedback to the PCM is what he's talking about.

That would make sense but why is it even a question?

Well, I have the body work about done, the engine bay all painted up, the motor and tranny dropped in and the interior soundproofed is where i am at. I am going to include some pics of the project up to this point. I am paranoid about the torque converter getting installed correctly so i am going to drop the transmission and redo it.

    here are some pics...enjoy.

truck was blue, not here it is in primer...doing body work.

motor when i first got it too where it is now.

engine bay primed with ppg epoxy, painted with epoxy black, and mulsanne blue. ls installed
