That could be because your transfer case was jacked up. If you have the case in neutral with the engine running it will do that when you go from in gear to park. The output is still turning and you are cramming it in park and it is grinding in. If you do this enough times you will trash the parking pawl.

Are you experiencing this now that the transfer case is off, or before you took it down?

Ya'll you need to link it back up with the rearend if you don't the output shaft will keep turning causing the parking pawl to grind.

It would grind when the case was on the truck, or half way falling off i guess. how could the case be in N? If he was running at 95 in 2wd

sry, Right now the case is OFF the truck and grinds only in park. He was driving the truck in 2wd, SO how could the T case go into Neutral? Would it not stay in 2wd mode? Idk how that works so maybe im not getting somthing

when it happened the truck was in 2hi, after it happened since the tcase is all messed it could've been in neutral. it all makes sense to me.

I thought if you're in 2wd, the transfercase is not enguaged. When I look down at my t-case lever, it is in N when I'm cruising in 2wd.
GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT RICER MATH!
