I guess nobody here has done that yet due to fuel mileage suffering so badly. Take a 4.8/5.3/6.0 and put a Radix or STS turbo on it and you have the same amount of torque and more HP and still get 17-18 mpg. Most of us pride ourselves with the fact that we have daily drivers that are fun to play with.

Gas mileage and weight is the reason why I have decided to go with an LS1/LS6 engine over everything else... when I can actually afford to do it

But i completly understand the MPG thing. So far my car's best highway MPG is 31 and best 1/4 time with a 1.89 60ft is 11.999@116.8 I Love telling people that i drive it everyday and it gets great MPG considering the power. around town high teens to low low 20's MPG.

that would be an interesting combo but i dont think an 80 would hold that amount of TQ for very long and the allison is very expensive to rebuild i beleve? not shure though there might also be clearince isshues with the allison in a 1/2 ton.

From what I hear a built 4L80 can handle in excess of 1200hp. I think parish pushed 800+ hp out of his 6.0 with 14.5lbs of boost on a stock 4L60, stock rear as well I think.

automatics arent that hard on rearends. I'm really not sure on the transmission stuff, but i do know that there are some very fast/powerful HOTROD diesel guys out there and most all of them that drag race with lots of mods are running autos. So there must be somebody out there somewhere that can build a bad to the bone trans to hold the power, as Jewmont3 pointed out.

I've wondered about an 8.1 swap into RC for awhile, but seems like everyone hops on the LS1 train. I myself would like to do a 6.0 swap in mine, or if they become available, one of those new LS7 7.0L.....that would rock
