Have you put a mechanical fuel gauge on it to see what your fuel psi looks like? I wouldn't go into it blindly until you can pinpoint it.
It COULD be the FPR... I doubt its the CPS cause if it was, you would be receiving a CEL. Honestly, I would go have the codes scanned to see if the PCM has picked up on anything irregular going on...

Well before I read your sig I thought I bet it's an 8.1, well well it is. Its the crank position sensor. Happened to my best friends Avalange 2500.

CKP's are so common a failure on the 8100 that some were recalled. Have patience when replacing it as if you break it off in the block you will hate life.
