    shift linkage?

has anyone had any issues with getting their OBS shift linkage to connect to a gen 3 or gen 4 4l60e? My trans mount is in the factory hole on the crossmember, but the rod coming out of the frame (linked to the gear stick on the column) is too long to go into the rod on the transmission. I took it out of the frame and tried to put it onto the rod on the trans, and it also hits the neutral safety switch.

Any ideas? I can get pictures if needed. I know the rod has a spring in it, but even when it is fully collapsed into the frame (as short as it can be) it is still too long, its like it needs 1.5" taken out of it, but that wouldnt solve the issue of the shift arm (the piece that goes on the rod on the trans, the rod moves it to change gears) hitting the safety switch.

I think its Lokar that makes a linkage that is a straight rod that runs from the column to the trans none of that to the frame crap I have installed three of these one on a 65 chevy pickup 200 4r trans one on a 70 chevy pickup 350 trans and one on a 69 chevelle 700 r4 trans. They connect to the trans like the cable does on the NBS with a short arm sticking down. I dont see why it would not work for you. Scott

I just cut my linkage in the straight section and re welded it. It seems to be working OK.
