    Newbie from Houston

Hey guys just wanted to say hi. I have a 99 silverado with 5.3 that has 191k miles on it. Im looking at trying to get some more power out of it cause it seems slower than normal 5.3s. I am thinking about doing LS1 heads, cam, and 90mm intake manifold. If you guys have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was looking into the 6.0 swap but I read some where that you gas mileage drops drastically.

i look at it this way, it doesnt matter whatcha do rather it be 5.3 or 6.0 the more bolt ons you add the more the mileage hurts, then sometimes thats not even true, you'll be surprised at some of the MPG some people are getting with 6.0s.

my first post was if you were gonna spend that kinda money on heads blah blah blah, i would just go 6.0 even if its just stock, at lease you'll be that much further in the game.. even if you keep it stock you'll be better off.

You know the more I thought about this I realized you are right, a 6.0 conversion would be better than building up my high mileage 5.3. Right now I am getting 13-14 mpg so I doubt it will get worst gas mileage than that with a 6.0. So my next question would be is there only certain years 6.0 that I can put in my truck since it's a 99? Also where can I get a decent priced motor from? Thanks guys
