What type of procedure is required to access the video portion? What type of safety connection does it have?

If it is like the 5000 then it has to see a break in the park brake and back to ground. In other words the brake wire has to be switched off from ground and then back on to ground. You can either put a toggle switch between the ground and brake wire or do like I did. I used a relay that I used my reverse to switch it. Basically whenever in reverses the brake wire was disconnected from ground. The quick pulse from switching from park to drive was usually enough to make video work. Sometimes I would have to put it back in reverse but it was still better than having to mess with a bs switch.

Link fixed. Dont know what happened there.
i prefer toggle switch method. That way if you ever get pulled over for watching it, just hit the toggle switch, and tell the cop it must have been a screen saver, that you can't watch video without e-brake set then set it/hit switch to show him
**saved me twice**
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
I think your write up is quite similar to what I said to do, only I wired to reverse and I didn't go into detail.
then when you get pulled over and kill your truck, pull your handle to turn off RAP(if you have it). If anything is said about it, turn your truck/car back on and show the officer that the e-brake must be set for viewing, then when you shift down to drive, the relay is tripped and you are ready to begin watching again. very simple, no ugly switches mounted anywhere visible or slightly difficult to get to.
