when you swapped out your old motor and put in a 6.0,what was your mpg.
i have a complete lq4 and i am anticipating the swap.
due to the fact that the mpg would not be any better than the 5.7 currently in my 1997 swb.
i have heard stories of guys doing the swap in the camaros and the are getting 20+ mpg. i dont know how true this is,but anyways.

I would say there are a lot of variables here. The reason that the camaro may have achieved 20+ is because of the gearing of the 6 speed manual. Kinda the same way the Vette gets 20+ on the highway with the 6.2/7.0. Most likely, your MPG will be around the 13-15 at best. You're probably pushing more weight than the Camaro/Vette. If you do any kind of mods or have higher gears, it will probably be around the 10-13 range.Originally Posted by MrEd

just do the swap and not worry about the mileage ;p if your looking for gas mileage go to a stock 4.8 and 3:23s and drive like a mawmaw
go for the swap, the 6.0 will get you at your desired speed faster and the gas will be about the same unless you go with a big cam and big stall.
i recently did the from a 5.3 to a LQ-9 6.0 and the MPG stayed the same if not a little better with the 6.0 by 1-2 MPG keep in mind the 6.0 makes more low end torque and it has to work less to move the truck thats why i geuss i gained a 1-2 gain
good news. about what i figured on the mpg.
i will not be doing a cam swap. for the simple fact that i ant this motor to last as well as the 5.7 has.
i am currently try to get the swap parts together.
i have the wiring harness and ecm that came with the motor Lq4/4l80. anybody have any input on how to make this harness work in my 97?
